Chillers
These relatively small units cool tank water for fish or corals. It can be used for fresh or saltwater tanks. This chiller will chill up to 55-gallon tanks with ease. I use it to maintain my tanks at 68 degrees F. It pumps 100 gallons per hour, and cost $210.00 plush shipping and handling. It hangs over the rim of the tank, so you can hide it in a sump, or put it over the rim of any tank that needs a lower temperature. The chiller case as well as the chiller itself are made from tank safe plastics, they are nontoxic to corals, fish and of course seahorses included!
Dimensions: 10 1/4" Tall x 5" Wide x 5 1/2" Deep at deepest point.
It runs using 2 standard USA
plugs, but plugs for Australia or anyone else who uses
240 volts are available as well for an extra fee.

FAQ's about this Chiller:
|
Q: Is it very noisy?
|
A: No. It isn't loud at all. The fan on the top does create a breeze, but the most sound is the water falling if the tank water levels are too low. You can fix that by raising the water levels in the tank, or by adding a piece of plexiglas to the water outlet so that it touches the water surface. That fixes any significant sounds. |
|
Q: Do I need any special plumbing or
ballasts?
|
A: No, you don't need any special plumbing, or ballasts. |
|
Q: How fast does it drop the temperature of a tank? |
A: It dropped my 55 gallon tank from 74-76 down to 68 in a short amount of time, under 2 days. 10 gallon tanks dropped in just 2-3 hours, and 40 gallons in about 6 hours or so. |
|
Q: How is the temperature
controlled?
|
A: The temperature is mainly controlled by the amount of water flow you let go through it. If you want it warmer, you slow down the water, and if not, then you let more water go through it. |
